Javier Campillay y la descalificación: “Ya pensamos en el 2011”

Dos noches en pleno desierto y una camioneta al límite provocaron la salida
del piloto del Tamarugal XC Rally Team.

Campillay ya piensa en el Dakar 2011 y en seguir apoyando al piloto de motos
del TXC, Claudio “Burro” Rodríguez.

Antofagasta, 10 de enero de 2010.- Después de días difíciles en el desierto,
las sensaciones son contrapuestas en el Tamarugal XC Rally Team luego de la
descalificación de la camioneta del binomio Javier Campillay-Darío Guzmán.

“No podemos estar contentos, porque la idea era terminar la carrera, pero sí
satisfechos por el tremendo esfuerzo que hicimos con Darío”, contó
Campillay.

“Entre jueves y sábado nos pasó de todo. Chocamos, reparamos, navegamos de
noche, dormimos en las dunas, en fin, una serie de cosas que la gente normal
podría calificar de una locura, pero así es el Dakar”.

Como parte de la travesía después de la rotura del radiador de la Ford F150
Raptor, Campillay cuenta 300 kilómetros de recorrido nocturno por las
salitreras para llegar a Iquique. “Lo logramos, nos lavamos la cara y
seguimos de vuelta hacia Antofagasta el viernes”, relató el piloto.

“A pesar del paso de las horas y a que la camioneta se disminuía, nunca
pensamos en abandonar, siempre en llegar al día de descanso para que
repararan lo necesario para seguir, pero tal como le pasó a Carlo de
Gavardo, al saltarnos way points la organización aplicó el reglamento y
quedamos fuera”, confidenció el líder del Tamarugal XC Rally Team.

El futuro del TXCRT

Apenas se confirmó la salida de la camioneta, la mirada del equipo se centró
exclusivamente en Claudio “Burro” Rodríguez y la proyección hacia un posible
Dakar 2011.

“Nos tiene muy contentos que Claudio siga bien y lo vamos a apoyar y seguir
hasta Buenos Aires”, afirmó Campillay.

Pensando en el próximo año, Javier Campillay adelantó que decidieron
“comenzar a trabajar en febrero y si el Dakar está en Chile lo más probable
es que el TXC esté de nuevo en la ruta”.

Además, es posible que el Tamarugal pueda correr algunas etapas del rally,
como Dos Sertoes en Brasil, y se inserten plenamente en el rally cross
country nacional.

“Queremos también darle las gracias a todos los que nos apoyaron en esta
travesía, a la familia, los amigos y nuestros auspiciadores, sin los que no
podríamos haber logrado nada de esto”, concluyó Campillay, con varios kilos
menos luego del desgaste de la carrera.

Javier Campillay and disqualification: "I think in 2011"

Two nights in the desert and a station wagon to limit the output of the
