“Burro” Rodríguez y el mayor logro de su carrera: “Estoy muy
feliz...respondí y estoy orgulloso”.
“Terminar el Dakar ya era un sueño, y hacerlo en esta posición es un premio
al esfuerzo”, comentó el piloto.
El hombre del Tamarugal XC Rally Team avanzó sin complicaciones en una etapa
muy rápida en que remató 42° para ubicarse 43° en la clasificación general.
Buenos Aires, 16 de enero de 2010.- “El piloto más joven en terminar el
Dakar 2010” es el título que ostenta Claudio “Burro” Rodríguez, con 21 años,
al concluir 42° en la última etapa de la carrera más dura del mundo.
En lo personal, Rodríguez aspiraba a completar la prueba sin importar la
posición, ojalá entre los 100 mejores. Y superó sus expectativas, al
situarse 43° en la clasificación general, en un debut internacional soñado.
“Estoy muy feliz. Es el mayor logro de mi carrera deportiva. Con 21 años
sólo quería terminar el Dakar. Eso ya era un sueño, y hacerlo en esta
posición es un premio al esfuerzo”, dijo el vallenarino, quien partió 161°
debido a que no contaba con experiencia en el exterior.
“Hay que estar acá para saber lo duro que es aguantar un Dakar. Aprovecho de
saludar a los chilenos que no terminaron, en especial a mi amigo Rodrigo
Caballero. Esto es para todos y para Vallenar, que mañana estará de nuevo en
el Obelisco”.
Hombre de pocas palabras, sí las tuvo para recordar a los que hicieron
posible la aventura.
“Hace tres meses no tenía por dónde llegar al Dakar. Sin apoyo económico no
podía hacer nada, hasta que me llamaron de Tamarugal para integrar el XC
Rally Team. Me cayó del cielo y agradeceré siempre a don Omar Campillay y a
Javier Campillay por el respaldo y confianza”.
“Quiero agradecer también a mi familia, que siempre me apoyó. Mi mamá, mi
hermano y mi papá (Sergio) que estuvo conmigo como mecánico y que al final
del día me apoyaba cuando estaba cansado. Siento que les respondí a todos y
eso me tiene orgulloso”, dijo el piloto.
Por su parte, el jefe del Tamarugal XC Rally Team, Javier Campillay, hizo un
positivo balance de la carrera.
“Como el más joven del Dakar, lo que hizo el Burro es destacable. Asumió con
mucha madurez las estrategias e hizo un muy buen papel. Todos los que
participamos en el proyecto, el equipo y los auspiciadores, tenemos que
estar contentos con el resultado”, concluyó Campillay.
Un debut soñado, y una juventud que permite pensar en desafíos futuros.

my father (Sergio) who was with me as a mechanic and later in the day that I
supported when tired. I feel like I answered them all and I have proud,
