Tras su mejor jornada, el Tamarugal XC Rally Team sigue afinando estrategia
que los mantiene en ascenso

Javier Campillay destacó el funcionamiento del equipo que ha permitido que
los pilotos se dediquen a lo que tienen que hacer.

“No podemos marearnos. Es evidente que venimos andando mejor, pero no hay
lugar para desconcentraciones”, planteó antes de dar inicio a la sexta
etapa, en que larga 53°.

Antofagasta, 7 de enero de 2010.- Desde un primer momento, el Tamarugal XC
Rally Team sabía que un buen desempeño en el Dakar dependía de dos palabras:
logística y estrategia. Y la aplicación de ambas ha sido fundamental para
conseguir buenos resultados en las últimas etapas.

Tanto Claudio Rodríguez en motos como Javier Campillay y Darío Guzmán en
autos han tenido notables progresos en la clasificación general, hasta
ubicarse 59° y 60° en la clasificación general de sus respectivas
categorías.

Campillay, piloto de la Ford F 150 Raptor, explica que “el equipo funciona
muy bien, está armadito y hasta hemos podido dormir y descansar bien, lo que
en estas etapas de agradece”.

Pero la propia estrategia del team impide adelantar escenarios, ni siquiera
ante la posibilidad de que en categoría Autos puedan ser una de las dos
máquinas chilenas en competencia.

“No podemos marearnos. Es evidente que venimos andando mejor, pero no hay
lugar para desconcentraciones, ya que queda más de la mitad de la carrera.
En mi caso, con Darío estamos bien acoplados, navegamos bien y podemos andar
fuerte”, aseguró Campillay.

“Al Burro (Rodríguez) lo conocen harto y lo saludan mucho en los tramos
donde hay público, pero también está muy metido en la carrera, y eso se ha
visto en sus resultados, en que los últimos dos días terminó 31° y 27°”,
agregó.

Sobre la jornada de hoy jueves, Javier Campillay planteó que tendrá un
ingrediente especial, ya que partirán hacia Iquique sin asistencias, por lo
que cualquier problema tendrán que resolverlo por sí mismos.

Los pilotos pasarán la noche en Iquique para volver el viernes a Antofagasta
y disfrutar el sábado del día de descanso en esa ciudad.
