“Burro” Rodríguez se vistió de héroe y olvidó la carrera para tirar por 295
kilómetros a Jaime Prohens

El vallenarino estaba 24°, como el segundo mejor chileno del día, cuando se
detuvo a asistir al copiapino. “Entre los chilenos tenemos que ayudarnos”,
comentó al cierre de la jornada.

La organización lo ubicó en el puesto 46° de la etapa y de la clasificación
general.

San Rafael, 14 de enero de 2010.- Cundió la preocupación cuando a 50
kilómetros del final de la especial San Juan-San Rafael, en Argentina,
Claudio “Burro” Rodríguez desapareció del mapa del tracking por segunda
etapa consecutiva.

Pero no hubo fallas de por medio, ni menos un accidente. El piloto del
Tamarugal XC Rally Team se encontró en el camino con su compatriota Jaime
Prohens, a quien una falla mecánica le impediría terminar la carrera.

Ante ese escenario, “Burro” se detuvo y ayudó al copiapino. Sin poder
reparar la falla, lo arrastró por 295 kilómetros, sin importar que en ese
momento marchaba como el segundo mejor chileno de la competencia.

“Jaime tenía un problema en el carburador y no se podía mover. Avanzaba 400
metros y se le paraba la moto, así que le dije “nos vamos juntos” y nos
fuimos lento por 295 kilómetros”, comentó el joven de 21 años, debutante en
el Dakar.

“Entre los chilenos tenemos que ayudarnos. Este mundo es como una rueda, da
muchas vueltas, y cualquier día me puede pasar a mí y no me cabe la menor
duda que Jaime me podría ayudar”, explicó “Burro”.

El rendimiento de Rodríguez venía en franco ascenso desde el ingreso a Chile
y salvo la undécima etapa en que una falla de batería le impidió terminar
por sus propios medios, destacaba con un muy buen ritmo.

El Tamarugal XC Rally Team respaldó plenamente la decisión de su piloto de
motos, y se manifestó orgulloso del espíritu deportivo.

Javier Campillay, jefe de la asistencia del TXCRT sostuvo que “el Burro es
así, un muy buen cabro, e hizo lo que muchos no habrían hecho en esas
circunstancias, dejar atrás su ambición de figurar en los primeros lugares y
ayudar a un compatriota. Tomó la mejor decisión”, sostuvo Campillay.

La décimotercera etapa, entre San Rafael y Santa Rosa, comprenderá 368
kilómetros de especial
